Meet Our Team
Rebecca comes to Yin Yang with a wide variety of experience and education in the fitness industry. Rebecca began her formal training in 2007, when she completed her full apprenticeship and certifications with Pilates Institute of America. She then traveled to New York City to participate and complete her Reformer III certification. Rebecca is presently training through STOTT PILATES and has also attended numerous workshops with Balanced Body Pilates. In addition, she is Bender Barre certified, TRX certified, and has years of experience teaching group fitness classes.
Lori first joined Yin Yang as a client, but always had an interest in becoming trained in the STOTT PILATES methods. In 2016, her journey began right here in our certified training facility. Lori has completed STOTT PILATES Intensive Mat and Reformer training, along with STOTT’s CORE Instructor Foundations course and a number of workshops, strengthening her knowledge base. Besides STOTT PILATES, Lori has participated in Cardio Fitness, Weight Training, Boot Camps, Yoga, Barre, and TRX. Lori entered the fitness world after giving birth to twins, looking to recover from her experience.
Melissa studied with Wendy Dahl at Blue Sun Yoga for her 200-hour yoga certification. She also holds a certification in prenatal yoga training from the Global Yoga and Wellness Center in Chicago. Melissa has continued her studies taking workshops with teachers such as Sean Corn, Wade Imre Morissette, Marcha Wenig, Mira Binzen, and Gabriel Halpern. She is also certified in Group Kick from Body Training Systems and in indoor cycle with Mad Dogg Athletics. In addition, she holds a blue belt in Shotokan karate.
Yoga transformed her mind and body in such a positive way that she decided to train at Lotus Yoga Center and earned a RYT-200 certification in 2013. Amy has studied under Martin Kirk and Gabriel Halpern and has recently finishing her certification for Chair Yoga. Amy was trained in Hatha yoga, but her practice has a strong Anusara influence. Her classes focus on breath control and alignment while moving into different poses while incorporates therapeutic yoga moves as well as somatic movements to help enhance each student’s experience. Amy also has experience in leading private meditation classes to help anxiety, stress, and anger issues as well as pain management meditation therapies.
Yoga Teacher & Pilates Instructor
In 2005, Lori received her 200 hour RYT and began teaching. She is currently working on her 500 hour RYT and her Para Yoga certification with her teacher Rod Stryker. Lori is also certified in Freedom Style Yoga with Erich Schiffmann, who has been a major inspiration in her life and her practice of yoga. Lori has also been trained by many master teachers such as Seane Corn, Paul Grilley, Anna Forrest, Saul David Raye, and Gabriel Halprin. In addition, Lori is certified in Pre & Post Natal Yoga, pilates, and Quantum Touch. Lori’s yoga style is flowing with focus on breath, meditation, and asana together.
Erin first discovered yoga as a teenager when she practiced it as a complement to her blended martial arts training in Kenpo karate. She went on to complete three Teacher Trainings with YogaFit, and recently completed a 200 hr Yoga Teachers Training Program through The Lotus Yoga Centre with Anita Maher. She is a registered Yoga Teacher through the Yoga Alliance and currently teaches a variety of classes in the area along with working here at Yin Yang. Erin’s teaching style draws from the Vinyasa tradition, which she finds to be beautiful, graceful, and alive. Using a strong flow and mindful interplay of the body and breath, she seeks to leave her students feeling revitalized, expansive, and nourished by the end of each class.
She says,” although I’ve practiced Yoga since I was sixteen, only in teaching it, did it blossom for me. I understood most importantly, that when I help others achieve their fullest potential, I radiate from the heart. Simple truths from the Yoga Sutras both illuminate and grace my classes, and every time, I am humbled by students who teach me by their presence.” Her style is overwhelmingly student centered. In the nine years she has taught in the Barrington area, while adhering to a traditional Hatha Yoga practice, she has taught fast paced Vinyasa styles, and gentle poses harnessing the body and the mind. The breath and its deep relaxing benefits are at the core of any style.
